Melbourne researchers have discovered a new way to interpret mammograms that could transform routine breast screening and save lives.

Identical twins can have very different lives and health despite their shared genes, according to UK expert Professor Tim Spector from London’s King College, who will speak at a public forum at the University of Melbourne.

A world-first study will investigate if singing ability is inherited in twins.

Led by the University of Melbourne with the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and the Australian Twin Registry, the study will explore if it is nature or nurture that most influences whether we can sing a pitch-perfect tune.

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has become the International Patron of the Australian Twin Registry, based at the University of Melbourne, and the Danish Twin Registry, announced in a joint ceremony in Denmark overnight.
