Professor Tim Lindsey tells the ABC that early results from polling companies suggest that Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has won the presidency of Indonesia, beating his rival Prabowo Subianto by a margin of about 4 per cent.

He said that it was a close presidential election by Indonesian standards, but that the 'reliable' polling companies all put Jokowi as the winner.

Professor Lindsey is the Director of the Centre for Indonesian Law, Islam and Society at the Melbourne Law School. He was speaking with Steve Cannane on The Drum.
