Professor Caruso is an Australian Research Council Federation Fellow in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of The University of Melbourne’s School of Engineering with interests in nanomaterials, polymer science, biomolecular engineering, molecular recognition and nanoparticles. He was also recently named an ARC Australian Laureate Fellowship Recipient.
Professor Frank Caruso has been named in the Top 100 Material Scientists in the world by Thomson Reuters for total publication impact in the last decade.
“My work is varied and complex. One of the current projects we are working on is to develop next-generation particle systems with engineered properties that are expected to underpin advances in the delivery of therapeutics in the areas of cancer, vaccines, cardiovascular disease and neural health,” said Professor Caruso.
“I am proud and honoured to be given this award and it is a credit to my research team and the support I receive from The University of Melbourne.” he said.
Professor Caruso will be presented with the Society Medal by the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC, Governor of Victoria at the Royal Society of Victoria on the evening of Thursday 13 December 2012 when he will present the annual Medallist lecture.
