MURFC President Simon Davis says the day will be one of the highlights of Victoria’s rugby calendar this year.  “As a founding club of the Victorian Rugby Union in 1909, we are pleased to host the strongest rugby club in Australia the Sydney University Football Club to celebrate a wonderful piece of history between the two clubs. It is a fantastic opportunity to connect of players of today with the foundations of both clubs and re-live the spirit, passion and commitment of the game in 1909.”

The University of Melbourne is also very pleased to welcome the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sydney Dr Michael Spence, David Mortimer, President of SUFC and Peter Hemming Chair of Friends of SUFC who has been instrumental in leading the transformation of the rugby club over the last decade.
