Media statement on alleged detention of international academics in Iran

The University of Melbourne is aware of reports that have emerged in recent days relating to the alleged detention of international academics in Iran.

These reports are of deep concern to our entire University community and we are actively seeking to understand this emerging situation.

Our top priority is the safety of our staff. We are working very closely with the Australian Government to support its efforts and are providing support to family and colleagues at this very difficult time.

As this is a sensitive and evolving situation we are unable to provide further comment at this time.
